BMW N.A. has issued a recall of approximately 8,988 20i and 28i models due to a possible brake power assist pump problem.

Which BMW models are affected by the recall?

2012-2014 BMW 320i, 2012-2014 BMW 328i, 2014 BMW 428i, 2012-2013 BMW 528i, 2013-2014 BMW X1, 2013-2014 BMW X3 and 2012-2014 BMW Z4.

What causes the brake power assist pump problem?

Insufficient lubrication of the vacuum pump. This may cause brake power assistance failure, which can result in a crash.

Are there any known accidents attributed to the defect?

At this time, BMW is not aware of any accidents or injuries due to the related problem.

What do I do if my car is one of those affected?

BMW will be notifying all owners affected by the recall in November 2014. BMW will install a locking ring in the camshaft to retain the camshaft seal disk.
